About Sean
I know from personal experience how stressful it can be to own a property when you are not nearby.
I have lived in the Algarve for the past three years, after spending two years in the Netherlands and most of my life before that in Wales, with some time in Ireland too. I also own property in the UK, so I understand the practical and emotional side of trying to look after a home from a distance.
Over the years, I have bought, sold, renovated, and managed several properties. I have overseen construction and renovation projects, dealt with tradespeople, handled unexpected problems, and felt the frustration of needing someone reliable on the ground when I was not there myself.
Friends and family can sometimes help, but that is not always a long-term solution. When I was renovating a property remotely, I was lucky to have support, but I also remember wishing there was someone independent and trustworthy I could simply call when something needed checking, arranging, fixing, or following up — without feeling like I was inconveniencing anyone.
That experience is one of the reasons I started West Algarve Property.
My aim is to give overseas and absent property owners a reliable local contact in the West Algarve — someone who can check on things, deal with smaller maintenance tasks, speak with tradespeople, follow up properly, and help make sure nothing important is being missed.
I am practical, hands-on, and comfortable dealing with the small property jobs that often become a headache when you are not nearby. I also understand that some trades need careful management. Until a strong relationship has been built, I believe in "trust, but verify" — clear communication, sensible oversight, and making sure the work is actually done properly.
